Devastation of 1066 Countryside

Devastation of 1066 Countryside.

The Hastings to Bexhill Link Road .This is total madness to ruin this beautiful countryside.  The road starts on the Queens Way St Leonard’s and ends on the A259. The A259 coast road has been congested for over 20 years .The locals wanted a bypass onto the A27 – M23, to ease traffic congestion and bring economic growth to the area with better transport links .There has been much talk about different routes to avoid destroying the heritage and wild life by protest groups, and petitions against the road. Then decisions are made in haste and we now have the road to nowhere that will still be congested, this is because the Queens Way is a hot spot for congestion and so is the A259. This week it has now been reported that they think they have no found the original site of the Battle of Hastings 1066 in Crowhurst .Which the link road goes straight through. The bureaucrats at ESCC have been warned about this but still went ahead despite many protests. This week English Heritage has now called a halt to the work. There has been consultation with the residents in our street that look out over beautiful views. It also appears to bee another knee jerk reaction by the Government and there is no recognisable benefit for the local economy
